Riveting is a joining method used in mechanical processes to join metal sheets or small-thickness plastics through their partial overlap, with the use of rivets. The rivet is a mechanical joint that cannot be disassembled and it is obtained by riveting at least one of the two heads of the rivet itself using pneumatic hydraulic presses.
Riveting can be made in different ways: riveting of perforated parts, which pierces the metal sheets that have to be joint and inserts the rivets into the holes; riveting of non-piercing parts, joining metal sheets by punching or planting self-performing rivets; ultrasonic riveting, in order to join sheets of different materials.
Riveting is an extremely flexible technique, with many types of use in mechanical, automotive, electronic fields and more.
